Ladies for Sale

A display in a San Francisco mall exhibited eight young women with price tags attached to all their bodies. The displays, part of a marketing campaign by the Working Group Against Human Trafficking, sought to focus on the issue of real human trafficking and to increase awareness of the difficulty. The advertising featured the women’s age groups, weight, height, and other measurements. They also included their countries of start and sexuality. In the process, the women’s reports and the function of the musicians and artists were brought to light.

An set up called “Women for Sale” was created by Task Push upon Human Trafficking in Laxa, sweden, as part of a campaign to generate consumption of sexual products and services a criminal offense. The unit installation was a great interactive installation, which available real women and their prices with all the details they may provide: level, weight, and measurements. The aim was to raise awareness of this practice also to collect enough signatures to pressure the ministry to take action.

The women displayed in the set up were shown in the store’s window with price tags and details of all their height, excess weight, and other measurements. The prices from the women were submitted next for their photos, plus the price tags included their region of source. The installation aimed to increase awareness regarding the problem of human trafficking and to accumulate enough signatures to make that a crime. In Israel, this has been a hit in lowering the demand for prostitutes.
